Himachal Pradesh is home to hundreds of treks and most of them remain open throughout the year. The best time for trekking in Himachal, basically, depend on what interests you more – the fresh smell of flowers and greenery in summer season, the rains and more lush vegetation in monsoon or the snow-covered trails of winters. However, if at all, the best time to trek in Himachal Pradesh had to be told, then it will be April – June and October-November.
In summer season (April – June), a number of treks open for the adventure lovers in Himachal like Hampta Pass Trek, Kareri Lake Trek, Bhrigu Lake Trek, Indrahar Pass Trek and more. Both easy and tough treks can be done in the summer months in Himachal Pradesh.
On the other side, in winter season (November – March), even the easy treks can seem challenging when you have to trek on snow-covered trails. However, the views of Himachal in winter are quite rewarding. Prashar Lake, Thachi Village, and Bijli Mahadev are some of the winter treks you can do in Himachal.
In monsoon season (July – September), there’s always a risk of landslide and heavy downpour, however, trekking doesn’t stop in Himachal. Treks like Pin Parvati Pass, Kanamo Peak, Khanpari Tibba, Mojidugh, Kugti Pass, and Chandratal can be done during the monsoon season in Himachal.
