Home to hundreds of treks, Himachal Pradesh is unarguably one of the best trekking destinations in the Indian Himalayas. Trekking in Himachal is hassle-free as well, as no permit is required for it; foreigners have to, however, get an Inner Line Permit/Protected Area Permit (PAP) and domestic tourists require Interline Permit for entering a few places. The local police have to be informed, in the case of a few treks in Himachal Pradesh.
Domestic tourists require an Interline Permit for trekking in the areas close to China Border. The permit is available at the nearest major town where the trek is located.
The foreign tourists require an Inner Line Permit (ILP) to travel to Khab, Samdo, Dhankar, Tabo, Gompa, Kaza, Morang and Dubling in the Lahaul & Spiti area. The ILP is available at Shimla, Manali, Kullu, Rampur, Kaza, and Rekong Peo.
Validity : The Inner Line Permit is valid for 14 days.
