Dayara Bugyal is considered as one of the most spectacular meadows in India. Also "BUGYAL" in local dialect is known as "High Altitude Pasture Land". Among all the treks in Uttrakhand, Dayara Bugyal is considered to be the most beautiful and breathtaking, because of the highland meadows. Located in District Uttarkashi of Uttrakhand, it stands at an elevation of above 10,000 foot. This trek has a unique charm because of the unmatched beauty of the mighty Himalayas and it has become one of the most popular trekking routes for people who are willing to do trekking in Uttarakhand. Many of the travel enthusiasts have described as a fairy tale which takes trekkers to panoramic open lands through thick forests, ending to a huge lush green meadow.
This trek starts from the Village Barsu which is a very clean place with different style of huts built up all around. People there are all with smiling faces which shows how happy and content they are, living amidst nature. While trekking you will have different types of experiences, a stream flowing where you wish to halt and capture the frames, moving ahead will take you to bed of dried maple leaves often seen in movies and on moving further, you will find sunlight coming on your face after getting filtered from the grove oak trees. You won't see animals there except a happy-go-lucky dog which will appear on the way to accompany you throughout the trek. Sunsets are very beautiful from the mountains, draws beautiful scenic views changing every passing minute.

In Summer: The weather remains mild; it's neither too cold nor too hot. During the summer season, the peaks remain visible. Carrying light woolens is advised.
In Monsoon: One of the best yet the terrible time to go for trekking, because there are chances of getting roads blocked due to landslides, but the scenic view is worth taking the risk.
In Winter: The area receives heavy snowfall throughout December and January, which winter season the best time to go for trekking.
One of the most beautiful grasslands in the Uttarkashi district of Uttrakhand, Dayara bugyal can dumbfound anyone with its beauty. Sprawling over an area 28 sq km, at an altitude of 3340 m, Dayara bugyal can be easily reached by trekking a distance of 9 km from Barsu village.
By Air: Jolly Grant Airport at Dehradun, 180km away, is the closest airport. Taxis, private cars, state road transport buses are available from the airport.
By Rail: Haridwar railway station, 215 kms from Uttarkashi, is the closest railway station.
By Road: Bus and taxis from Rishikesh (170 km), Haridwar (189 km) and Dehradun (144 km) are easily available to reach Uttarkashi.
In the morning take an AC Train to Haridwar at 06:55 hrs. We are expected to reach at Haridwar by 11:25 hrs. On arrival, you will be met by our representative who will assist you to transfer to Rishikesh by road and check-in to the hotel. Evening is free to explore the nearby area on your own. The Ganga Aarti (a ceremony consisting of chants, lights, and floating butter lamps) performed every evening at sundown is worth witnessing. Overnight stay at the hotel.
After the breakfast, drive to Sangamchatti via Uttarkashi. The drive is along the course of River Ganga, and thereafter River Bhagirathi and as expected the view is simply spectacular. We shall arrive at the picturesque hamlet that overlooks the vast Bhagirathi valley. Overnight stay guest house/tent.
Today after the breakfast, we shall trek to Barnala Bugyal. This will be an arduous climb through dense Oak and Rhododendron forest. From several spots during this trek through the forests, we shall be able to get the view of mountains like Draupadi Ka Danda. The summer shelters known as Chhanis for cattle herders can also be sighted here and the existence of and small ponds is also common here. Overnight stay in tent.
Today's trek will be through a trail that passes by the Pine forests and ascends above the tree line to the alpine meadows of Dayara Bugyal. We shall set our camp here and stay overnight here.
Our day will be spent in exploring the extensive Bugyal that has an undulating surface and innumerous streams flowing through. It is to be noted that walking here is a bit tough as one feels the lack of oxygen. Therefore, we shall take a slow and easy walk while we observe different elements making this place picturesque. Birds like Lammergaier and the Griffon - both rare birds of prey can be sighted here. Overnight in tents.
Post breakfast, we shall trek down to Barsu village through a steep descending path. We will arrive at a village, which was destroyed in the earthquake of 1991 in Uttarkashi. One can still feel the powerful influence of the earthquake here. From here, drive to Uttarkashi for an overnight stay.
We shall drive from Uttarkashi to Haridwar and from here go to Haridwar railway station to catch the train for Delhi at 18:05 hrs. Arrive in Delhi by 22:45 hrs.

You should book Dayara Bugyal Trek well in advance (at least 4 month prior) advance so that you get ample amount of time to prepare well for the trek.
There will be pony/porter that will carry your backpack while on trek; you only need to carry your small knapsack.
Once you book your trek with us we will give you a list of things to carry and the total weight should not cross 12 Kgs.
Our pick up and drop point for Dayara Bugyal Trek is New Delhi train station at platform no. 16. We will send you the train ticket and you can board train from there to Haridwar. At Haridwar our guide will pick you from train station and then from there your tour will start.
We always have an experience trekking guide who leads the trek.
Our group size is minimum 2 people and maximum 18 people with mix of men and women.
Dayara Bugyal Trek is an easy trek with a maximum altitude of 12630ft (3850m) minimum age required is 10 years.
In the month of April to June the temperature during the trek can go as low as 10 Degree Celsius during the night and September – November is 5 degree minimum. In winters the temperature in minus by night and morning which will further decrease the temperature.
We plan our treks in such a way that after 4-5 hours of trekking we reach next camp in between 14:00 – 15:00 hrs time and normally trek a distance of 5-12 Kms a day.

Yes, it is a safe trek for girls.
Different shoes are suitable for different kinds of treks, depending on the weather, trail condition as well as duration of the trek. For warm and dry terrains, you can choose low-ankle hiking shoes. Trek boots are best for the rugged and cold condition. Trekking on the glaciers and extensive snow, on the other hand, will require trek boots with crampon-ready features. Any footwear brand that provides ankle support and comes with crampon-ready features is considered as the best for trekking.
While trekking, we serve vegetarian food rich in protein, carbohydrates and highly nutritious. Sometimes, we surprise our trekkers with tasty treats like pakora, local food, etc.
Yes, it's completely safe for drinking and even for cooking, but, to be on the safer side we always carry filters and chlorine tablets
Vehicles like Mahindra Bolero, Tata Sumo, Scorpio, Max, and Tempo Traveller are suitable for a ride on damaged Himalayan roads.
Yes, our departure dates remain fixed. We are always excited to go for the trek, even if it's with one trekker.
Trekking on high Himalayan altitudes is always a rewarding experience. However, it is important that you should keep your safety in mind. Emergencies, like illness, AMS, storms, missteps, landslides and even avalanches, are rare but can happen anytime during the trekking, so be prepared for any random goof-ups. To deal with any emergencies your guides, who are an expert mountaineers will be there for your rescue. Your tour guide will always carry a first aid kit to deal with any medical emergencies. In the case of some rescue operation, extra charges will be borne by the trekkers.
We are all back in Pune safely after a wonderfully organized trek by Peak Adventures. Our guide and cook took great care in making our stay comfortable to the extent possible.
