Edwardian architect Henry Lanchester conjured up an image of a royal palace in 1928 which materialized as Umaid Bhawan in Jodhpur. A heritage, part of which is now Taj hotel, the palace exudes opulence and elegance in artful tapestry, meticulously engraved ceiling, spacious corridors overlooking great views of landscape and tastefully decorated rooms. Art Deco style of architecture embraces every nook and corner of the palace where Indian and western style are convincingly amalgamated. Portraits of Rajputana warriors merging with the décor of the sandstone monument create an enchanting ambience, more when the palace is also equipped with every conceivable service. Guests are thus greeted in this world class heritage hotel with the traditional Rajasthani welcome- 'Padhaaro Mhare Des'.
