Bhukailash Temple is one of the oldest temples in Kolkata with a rich history that dates back to 250 years. Comfortably seated on the bank of a pond, this popular Hindu temple in Kolkata is basically a twin temple of Lord Shiva with the same architecture. The first one is devoted to Rakta-Kamleshwar and the second one is sacred to Krishna-Chandreshwar. Both temples were constructed by Maharaja Joynarayan Ghoshal Bahadur in the year 1781. Inside the small yet beautiful complexes of these renowned temples in Kolkata, there are Shiva Lingas, each 11 feet of height. The architecture of the temple, it boasts a traditional aatchala, which is a Bengali architectural style.
