Natural rock formations resembling Shiva Lingams, a snake-shaped stone almost 20 feet in length and gorges that resemble the Grand Canyons of USA in appearance, the Garo Hills is rich in biodiversity, steeped in mythology & folklore, and offers opportunities for sightseeing and adventure in equal measure as a famous tourist attraction in Meghalaya.

Some of the must visit tourist spots in the West Garo Hills are Tura Peak, Rongbang Dare Falls, Pelga Falls, Chibragre, Rongbang Dare, Sasatgre Village and Nengkong. The Nokrek Biosphere Reserve, one of India’s most beautiful national parks holding the UNESCO world heritage status, lies here in the West Garo Hills region and amazes visitors with splendid sights of the Lesser Red Panda, Asian Elephant and the rare Stump-Tailed Macaque.

Balpakhram National Park is another place to see in Garo Hills in Meghalaya which you should not miss. It is associated with several interesting mythological stories, but what is more interesting is that the rare citrus plant, Me-mang Narang, is found here. If you fancy a picnic during your trip to Garo Hills in Meghalaya, check out a waterfall by the name of Imilchang Dare. Originating in a small stream which makes its way carefully among rocks, it emerges as a thick formation and plunges violently, creating a pool at the bottom which is great for swimming.
