Often I feel like spending time in solitude, not to mediate in calmness or fleeing from the worldly desire but to make some time to talk to myself. To listen to the echoes of my heart what I can’t hear in the humdrum of city life I dream of sitting next to a mountain stream that exactly echoes my mind. And to be very honest I find this melodious sound so neatly woven in the rhythmic movement of the brooks of Uttarakhand. Perfectly called the land of the Gods, the state of Uttarakhand has mesmerised me for various strong reasons including the waterfalls plunging down from the heart of magnificent Himalaya. This blog is penned down to tell you about the best waterfalls I have found till date in Uttarakhand. And I am sure this blog will urge you to visit one of these springs in this vacation. Kempty Waterfalls

Around 15km from Mussoorie and 45 km from Dehradun town, Kempty waterfall is an ever energetic fall on the hilly tracks of Uttarakhand. Located at a height of around 1364m this waterfall is surrounded by lofty mountain peaks and counted among the most popular waterfalls in Uttarakhand. Unlike other waterfalls of the state, Kempty remains heartthrob throughout the year and tourists often choose it as a weekend getaway from Mussoorie. You can take bath under the stream and click abundant photos to cherish the memories in later years.

Counted among the best waterfalls of Uttarakhand, Tiger Falls is located in Chakrata Town of Dehradun District. It originates at a height of around 312 feet and looks stunningly beautiful for the green background. The waterfall is found in the midst of Jungle and the travellers passing by the main road can only listen to the gurgling sound of this mountain stream. As, the waterfall is not accessible by vehicle directly, the serenity is kept untouched till date which is a delight for the retreat seekers.

Sahastradhara Waterfalls

Located at a distance of around 14 km from the city of Dehradun, Sahastradhara is a sulphur water spring that looks the best in rainy season. Gushing down in several streams, the waterfall is found at its best during May-August. The temperature of the water is not that high. So, one can easily go for taking bath to get treated by the sulphur water of the spring.

Jimi Ghat Waterfalls

Located in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand at a distance of around 9km from Dumar, Jimi Ghat Waterfall is an eye-catching mountain spring that can be seen on the Milam Glacier – Birje Ganga Pass trek route. The vicinity close to this waterfall is densely covered by Rhododendron and Birch trees and turns to an ideal weekend getaway in Pithoragarh. The waterfall site also offers priceless views of Nanda Devi and Suitilla peaks.

Corbett Waterfalls

If you are a birding enthusiast and love verdant forest too, then Corbett Waterfall should not escape your sight at any cost. Located on the Kaladhungi-Ramnagar Highway, Corbett Waterfall is surrounded with a dense forest cover and originates at a height of around 20m from the ground. The mountain spring forms a lagoon at the ground, so one can go for swimming if in a mood of unlimited fun. To reach at the waterfall the travellers need to drive through dense teak wood which creates a soothing feel to the eyes. If you are in a mood of setting out for picnic or camping Corbett Waterfalls can be an ideal option without any doubt.

Birthi Falls

Located in Thal-Munsiyari Route, Birthi Falls is a 125m high fall near Bala Village of Munsiyari. It is an ideal site for photography and it is advisable to visit this spot during monsoon. KMVN Guest House is located at the back of this fall, so you can have a healthy photo session in case you are living in this guest house.

Vasudhara Falls

If you love to go off-beaten and love solitude then you should go trekking beyond Mana Village in Uttarakhand, which is the last inhabited village of Indian sub-continent. From Mana Village a trek of around 6km will take you to the unsurpassed views of Vasudhara Falls. Undisturbed locale, breathtakingly beautiful mountain peaks and moreover the unpolluted environ satiate the hunger of your nature loving soul perfectly.

Bhatta Falls

A natural waterfall found at the lap of majestic Himalaya, Bhatta Falls is located in Mussoorie at a distance of around 7km from Mussoorie City. It is a picturesque mountain spring that rolls down with roaring voice and one would definitely fall in love with this spot for its undisturbed locale. For your convenience, it is advised that you should carry your lunch as there is not any big eatery near Bhatta Falls.

Mossey Fall

A comparatively smaller and peaceful waterfall on the distant corner of Mussoorie, Mossey Fall can be an ideal place to pitch your tent or for going on a picnic. The nearby pine forest enhances the scenic beauty of this place and makes Mossey a perfect object of nature photography.

Moigad WaterFalls

69km from Dehradun on Delhi-Yamunotri Road, Moigad Waterfall is a beautiful waterfall found in an equally stunning location. Due to its quaint locale, the waterfall vicinity has turned to a popular picnic spot near Dehradun and an ideal getaway for those seeking some fresh air. You are advised to carry your food. Also to see the best of this mountain spring, try to plan in monsoon.

Garud Chatti WaterFall

Even though the Garud Chatti Waterfall does not earn the same stature of Kempty Fall, it is worth seeing if you are travelling to Rishikesh. This lesser known waterfall of Uttarakhand is found at a distance of 4 km from Laxman Jhula on the Neelkanth Mandir Road and one need to trek to reach here. There is a temple dedicated to the deity Garud and the trekking starts from this temple. It is recommended that one should travel to this fall during summer to capture the best views in cameras.

Neer Gaddu Water Fall

Neer Gaddu Water Fall

Easy accessibility and quaint environ is what make Neer Gaddu waterfall a winner of the heart of the people travelling to Rishikesh. It is around 3km from Laxman Jhula on the Badrinath Highway and one can reach here through a shorter walk through the Rajaji National Park. The water of this mountain spring is crystal clear and spending a few hours on the waterfall is utterly refreshing.

Padampuri Waterfall

One of the most unexplored tourist destinations of Uttarakhand, Padampuri Village is found on the way to Mukteshwar on Nainital-Bhimtal road. It is a small village where you can have enough of fruit orchards, some of which might not be known to you even. The waterfall is named after the village and you can see the best view of this fall in monsoon only.
