Polypectomy with Hot Biopsy

Polypectomy is a procedure conducted for the elimination of colorectal polyps to prevent them from becoming cancerous. Any type of gastrointestinal polyps is successfully removed by means of colonoscopy.

Polypectomy with hot biopsy is used for removal of polyps. Hot biopsy forceps are used to get a better grasp of the polyp tip. There are polyps growing in the inside lining of the colon. This refers to the large intestine. A polyp is generally defined as a mass of tissue which can be either benign or malignant. Sigmoidoscopy or colonoscopy is used to remove most polyps.

The hot biopsy forceps are considered as the best and most fruitful acceptable alternative. Many, however, doubt the use of hot biopsy because of its possibility of causing perforation and bleeding. But in reality, there are lesser chances of such complications if a hot biopsy is used.

In case of hot biopsy forceps, the depth and measurement of thermal injury is not distinctly visible.

It has been found that the proper use of hot biopsy for polyps removal surgery helps get a proper grasp of the polyp and tent it away from the wall. This helps in discontinuing current.
