Menisectomy
Treatment for torn meniscus is called meniscectomy. This form of surgery helps provide relief against meniscus pain caused due to an arthroscopic knee surgery. Orthopedic surgeons perform this type of surgery based on the meniscus’s ability to help heal as per your activity level, health and age.
Partial medial meniscectomy is described as a procedure that eliminates some of the meniscus located in the tibio-femoral joint present in the knee. Meniscus pain is best treated with meniscectomy. During full meniscectomy, the meniscal rim is removed and the entire surgery involves a portion of removal of meniscus for the treatment for torn meniscus.
When the meniscus can be repaired, it is corrected through surgery, but when it is beyond repair, it is surgically removed. If there is no meniscus cushion, then persistent arthritis and knee pain can develop. Arthroscopic meniscectomy is described as an outpatient minimally invasive surgery used for the treatment of torn cartilage.
