Endovenous Laser Treatment (EVLT) for Varicose Veins (Single Extremity)

Endovenous laser treatment for varicose veins (EVLT) uses laser rays to treat venous insufficiency and spider veins. Varicose vein laser surgery has many advantages as compared to stripping method of surgery. The surgical procedure is performed under local anesthesia.

Laser treatment for varicose veins is performed in a single extremity, inclusive of monitoring, imaging guidance, radiofrequency, used for closing varicose vein. During the endovenous laser vein treatment procedure, an optical fibre is carefully inserted and a laser light is used to illuminate the inside of the vein to clearly show the interior. This helps the vein to contract and when done, the optical fibre is slowly withdrawn.

Sometimes, ambulatory phlebectomy or sclerotherapy is performed as part of varicose veins treatment within the first or two weeks for treating branches of varicose veins. All symptoms of varicose veins are best treated with laser surgeries, sclerotherapy, endoscopic vein surgery, foam schelotherapy, high ligation and catheter-assisted procedures.

Varicose veins complications are both serious and minor. Some of the complications are hematoma, bruising, induration, phlebitis, temporary numbness, sensation of tightness and so on.
