Ossiculoplasty
Patients suffering from conductive hear loss should undergo ossiculoplasty surgery. This ear surgery is about reconstructing ossicles located within the middle ear in incus, stapes and malleus.
Ossiculoplasty is sometimes performed in combination with tympanoplasty, in which the ossicles are elaborately examined and then an ear reconstruction procedure is performed by repositioning or reshaping the existing bones in the middle ear or by using prosthetic bones. The surgery, eventually, helps to lift the intact ear drum through the middle ear.
Post ear surgery care includes applying Polysporin twice a day on the incision. Do not remove the external ear packaging as it is done during surgery. Keep your ear as much dry as possible. Avoid lifting heavy weights until 4 to 5 weeks of surgery. Keep your mouth open while sneezing or coughing to avoid pressure on your ears post the ear surgery. Consult with a doctor and only then resume normal daily activities.
