Tooth Contouring and Reshaping
Teeth reshaping is a popular dental cosmetic procedure used to take care of the tiny imperfections in the teeth such as chipped tooth, extremely pointed cuspids and overlapping. Also known as teeth contouring, this procedure works by removing a little bit of enamel from the tooth to alter its shape, length and size.
Dental contouring helps improve the appearance of the teeth drastically. The dentist performs this procedure by first marking the area that needs to be corrected. Next, tiny instruments are used to correct imperfection and give a perfect contour to the teeth. As a last step, the teeth are smoothed and given perfect finish with the help of polishing.
Reshaping teeth is relatively less costly, as compared to other dental procedures used to improve the look of the teeth. But the overall cost of the procedure depends on the extent of damage and the amount of area or number of teeth that needs to be corrected.
However, there is a risk of tooth damage during the procedure. The tooth can break if too much of enamel is chiseled away. In addition, teeth can become sensitive after the procedure.
