Dentures
Dentures refer to the set of artificial and removable tooth that can be used as a replacement for missing teeth. They can be either complete or partial. Complete dentures are used in case all of the teeth are missing, and partial dentures are used in case a few natural teeth are still there.
These removable false teeth are made up of nylon, metal or acrylic. The artificial teeth are fitted into the gums and is supported by the natural hard and soft tissues of the mouth.
Typically, a dentist advises the person with denture to replace it every five to seven years. But some dentures can last for up to ten years. In case of a chipped or broken tooth, patients can even opt for denture repair at their dentist centres.
A denture is attached to the gum of the patient with the help of an adhesive. The adhesiveness lasts for up to a few hours, after which the patient needs to apply it again. Denture implants are an alternative to artificial denture, and they are better in terms of resemblance to look and feel of a natural tooth. Dentures cost less than dental implants.
