CABG – Redo

Redo CABG procedures are quite common and use repeat median sternotomy in a routine approach when a graft to the left anterior descending artery (LAD) is occluded. It is important to avoid injury to the patent graft and LAD during the sternotomy. Redo Bypass Surgery is much more complicated than a regular CBDG procedure. CABG Redo is done on patients who are co-morbid with conditions like sclerotic coronary and noncardiac arteries. This makes it a far more complicated procedure than is done on patients who only receive a normal CABG surgery.

Redo CABG Surgery is made more complex by operative procedures requiring reentry of the sternum which is sometimes problematic. Many times dissection of the heart is needed to resolve deeper-lying issues. Redo Cardiac Surgery is used for co-morbid patients when no other viable options seem to help them improve. Redo Cardiac Surgery is seen as last-ditch effort by a hospital or doctor to save a patient from death. CABG Redo Surgery is also generally preferable to PCI in patients with more disease vein grafts that also possess low cardiac function. That combines to make any other procedure very ineffective to fix the patient’s severe health problems.
