It is 134km away from Lucknow. This popular pilgrim centre is
situated on the banks of the Saryu river. It is believed to be
the birth place of Lord Rama, the seventh incarnation of Lord
Vishnu. The ancient city of Ayohdhya according to Ramayana, was
founded by Manu, the law-giver of the Hindus. For centuries it
was the capital of the descendants of the Surya dynasty of which
Lord Rama was most celebrated king . The story of the epic Ramayana
has been immortalised by Valmiki and immensely popularised by
the great masses through centuries. Ramkot is the chief scared
place of worship. On Ramnavami, this place attracts devotes from
India and aboard.
Neemsar - Misrikh : It is 94km away from Lucknow. An important
religious center with the temples of the goddess Lailta, Dadhichi
Kund, Vyas Gaddi, Chakratirth and Hanuman Garhi.
Kukrail Reserve Forest : A picnic spot developed by the
Forest Department, it has deer park and crocodile nursery. A variety
of birds and dear can be seen in their natural habitat.
Hanuman Garhi : According to legend Hanuman lived here
in a cave and guarded the Janambhomi or Ramkot. The faithful believed
that all their wishes will be granted with a visit to this holy
shrine.
