How to Reach Thimphu?<\/h1>\n

Thimphu is the fourth highest capital in the world. Surrounded by lush green valleys, it is the mini-metropolis of Bhutan. In order to reach Thimphu, one can either travel via road or take a flight. Flying to Paro from India is the most convenient way to reach Thimphu, while people seeking adventure can do a road trip via Sikkim.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

Flights are the easiest way to reach Thimphu, Bhutan. There are a few Indian states that are connected to Paro, which is the only International Airport in Bhutan. Direct and connecting flights operate from cities like Delhi, Kolkata, Assam, Guwahati, Bagdogra, and Gaya to Paro. Talking about other countries, Bangkok, Singapore, Kathmandu and Dhaka also have flights to Paro. On reaching Paro, one can either take a local bus or a cab to reach Thimphu. The drive from Paro to Thimphu can be completed within 1.5 hours (50 km).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Travel by Road<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n

Kolkata is the nearest Indian city to Bhutan. Regular Volvo buses operate from Kolkata’s Esplanade Station. The buses leave every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 7:00 PM for the land of the dragon. Route for self-drive from West Bengal goes from Jaigaon to Phuentsholing in Bhutan. It takes further 6 hours from Phuentsholing to reach Thimphu.<\/p>\n

There are also buses running from Siliguri to Bhutan and Bagdogra to Thimphu from NJP Station or Tenzing Norgay Bus Stop.
