Apart from being a Bollywood actress and producer, Dia Mirza is also an activist of clean and green environment and has released a wild anthem on 12 August, 2018 during the Gaj Mahotsav in New Delhi, titled “Mere Desh Ki Zameen” which is India’s first wild anthem with the mission to conserve wildlife and its habitat in India.
The project is a collaboration between Dia Mirza and her spouse Sahil Sangha, under their banner Born Free Entertainment and in partnership with Wildlife Trust of India (WTI). The anthem is launched with the aim to give the country its first Wild Anthem to celebrate and converse the biodiversity with the hope to instil an impeccable sense of pride and unfailing love for natural bounty. Composed by Clinton Cerejo and lyricist Prasoon Joshi, the beautiful anthem ‘Mere Desh Ki Zameen’ is given voice by the melodious Sunidhi Chauhan, Shreya Ghoshal, Vishal Dadlani, Benny Dayal and Clinton.
Speaking about the project, Dia Mirza, a UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador of India) said, “This was my dream to give India a Wild Anthem, a song that would be a celebration of all that is most incredible about our home, our land. I am so grateful to everyone who is a part of the anthem for coming forward and giving it nothing but love.”
Urging the people to protect the wildlife, Singer Shreya Ghoshal said, “We are so blessed to be born in a country which has the most beautiful and magical wildlife in the entire world. The variety is simply incredible. They truly are wonders of nature and we must do everything in our capacity to protect them from any harm.”
According to singer Benny Dayal, there is a dire need for wildlife conservation. The song composer and the singer Clinton expressed his excitement to get an opportunity to work with the Wildlife Trust of India. Last but not the least, the founder of Born Free Entertainment, Sahil Sangha stated that the natural beauty of India should be celebrated as well as conserved and he feels privileged to collaborate with fine artists and hopes that people will appreciate and make efforts to help keep ‘India Forever Wild.’
India being the home to the rich flora and fauna, boasts of an ecological diversity that is rare and distinct. Celebrities coming forth with such projects can really work for the betterment of wildlife and it is also imperative that we all make efforts to initiate more wildlife conservation projects that would protect the beauty of our wildlife and preserve it for the generations to come.
