Corbett has a subtropical and highland climate, which means that the summers are hot and the winters are pleasant while in monsoon it rains quite heavily. All zones except Jhirna remain closed in monsoon. For an ideal adventure holiday, the best time to visit Corbett National Park is between 15 November and 15 June.

Reckoned to be the oldest national park in India, Corbett National Park lies on the foothills of the Himalaya. Partially situated in the Kumaon region (Nainital district) and Garhwal region (Pauri district), the park covers a core area of 521 sq km. However including the buffer area, which comprises both reserve forests and the Sonanadi Wildlife Sanctuary, the total area of the park stands at 1288 sq km. Recognized as a patron of Project Tiger, Corbett Tiger Reserve in India has been a safe shelter for tigers and other wild animals since 1936. Thick Sal, Khair and Sissoo Forests, Tiger, Asian Elephant, Chital, Hog Deer, Leopard and Barking Deer are the highlight of Corbett National Park. Nonetheless, adventure and recreational activities like jeep safaris, canter safari, trekking and angling have also made a room for themselves as well.

Safari Timing Chart

There are three types of safaris available in Corbett National Park namely Jeep safari and Canter Safari. Where jeep safari is available in all four zones. Canter safari on the other hand can be done in only one zone i.e Dhikala. It is advised to make safari bookings in advance to avoid inconvenience. How to Reach Corbett?

By Air: The closest domestic airport to Corbett is Phoolbagh, Pantnagar and on the other hand at 295 Km from the park is the International Airport of Delhi (Indira Gandhi International Airport).
Note: There are currently no operational flights from Delhi to Pantnagar.
By Rail: The closest railway station from Corbett National Park is at Ramnagar.
By Road: One can board a bus in Delhi from Anand Vihar ISBT and Kashmiri Gate for Ramnagar.
