Last Updated: July 19, 2018

When I was a kid, I heard many stories related to Sai Baba and his abode- Shirdi, as my parents were fervent devotees of him. As I grew older, I became more and more curious to explore the land where this great saint lived, who gave the message of one God and universal brotherhood. Recently, I got a chance to visit Shirdi and trust me it became one of the most entrancing trips of my life till now! I can bet it will render the same satisfaction to you.

The fragrance of purity of hearts, paramount spirituality and arresting exquisiteness, in short, Shirdi is the perfect place to experience serenity. Shirdi is located at a distance of 122 kilometers from Nashik in Maharashtra. There are scores of tourist attractions here and I am feeling blessed to tell you about them.

Let me take you to a virtual tour of Shirdi, where every nook and corner is waiting to leave you spellbound. So let’s start your journey through my lenses. When I stepped on this sacrosanct land and checked into a room, I was a bit confused about choosing my first halt. As I was feeling tired, I first moved my waist towards Wet n Joy Park, located in Nighoj Village at about 5-6 kilometers from Shirdi, in order to rejuvenate my senses. In my opinion it can be the best start of the tour to Shirdi for you as well. In my opinion it can be the best start of the tour to Shirdi for you as well. Image yourself being stirred in a whirlwind, sprinting through an airfloat that drops you into a huge bowl of water or crashing over a slide into a pool below. Yes! It’s the enthrallment that Wet n Joy Park will proffer you. Here is the video shot by Danish Khan that will take you close to this amusement park.

As I am a connoisseur of exploring things related to history, I then moved to Dixit Wada Museum. If you have the same freakiness, you can follow the same. Located opposite the Gurusthan, this museum embraces some of the personal belongings of Sai Baba.

In quest of tranquility, you may go to have a view of Godavari River that flows not far from this sacred land. Here is the Shirdi best travel video of Godavari River View captured by the lense of gods and temples.

Now let’s proceed to witness some spirituality and start it with the temples here. On your pilgrimage tour to India, you must be eager to visit temples with beautiful architecture. Temples in Shirdi are ideal for you. Panchmukhi Vishnu Ganapati Temple, situated at a distance of 2 kilometers from Shirdi Saibaba Sansthan, is one such temple with a beautiful idol of Panchmukhi Vishnu Ganpati. A community marriage hall and an old age home is also present here. Moreover, free meals for the poor are also arranged daily.

Down the path that runs amid Dwarkamai and the Chavadi is the Maruti Mandir, which is one of the oldest temples in Shirdi. As Hanuman is regarded as the patron divine being of wrestlers, they find this temple an auspicious place. At night, mainly on Thursdays, this temple is filled with music when local people congregate to sing bhajans.

Moreover, Triambikeshwara Temple located at about 117 kms from Shirdi is one of the 12 jyotirlingas of Shiva. Hence it has a great significance in Hinduism. You can also visit Shani Shignapur Temple at 60 kms distance from Shirdi. An idol of Lord Shani is placed here on a simple base and there is no temple structure.  This sacrosanct region is also known as the village with no locks or doors. Here is the video shot by Rajesh Chopra of Shani Shignapur Temple.

Sakori Village, at a distance of 5 kilometers from Shirdi is known as the abode of Upasani Maharaj, who was a significant Hindu guru. He was a prominent disciple of Sai Baba.

This destination was not very far from my hotel so I could hire a taxi to reach there. Oh! How can I forget to mention my hotel? I stayed in Hotel Shraddha Inn, which is one of the best hotels in Shirdi. This hotel provided me an extremely comfortable stay with world-class amenities. Not telling you more about it in words, allow me to show you a video on Hotel shraddha Inn shot by TheTopIndiaHotels.

Now it’s time to tell you about the great saint whose image comes to the mind of pilgrims when it is about traveling to Shirdi. Sai Baba holds a unique place in the affluent tradition of sages in India. He is revered as an embodiment of perfection and self-realization. It is believed that he did not come solely to sermonize but to stimulate humankind through his messages of love and morality. Shirdi Sai Baba Mandir is located here to revere this great saint. It is built over the place where Sai Baba was cremated. Let’s watch the video on Shirdi Sai Baba Temple Suryasta Aarti. This video is shot by Sai Aashirwad.

This mandir opens early in the morning followed by Kakad aarti and bhajans. Then there helds a holy bath of Shri Sai Baba, which is known as Mangal Snan. Darshan in the temple starts at around  5:45 AM and there is the Dhuni Puja in Dwarkamai which is held at about 11:30 AM. The mandir is closed at around 11:30 PM, after night aarti.

On every Thursday in Shirdi, a Palki procession that starts from Samadhi Mandir or Sai Mandir and proceeds to Dwarkamai is organized. From Dwarkamai, it moves to Chavadi. The  Palki then returns to Sai baba Mandir. This ritual is being followed since the time of Sai Baba. Let’s watch the video of the procession shot by Rajesh Soni.

If you are a food lover like me, you can savor the local food of Shirdi. The food mostly comprises pure vegetarian dishes, as it is a religious place. The ladoos are made in pure ghee for prasad. It is a blend of cashew nuts, sweets and bundi. Around 60,000 such ladoos are sold per day.

Here is a video of the ladoos used as a prasad in Shidi. This video is shot by Hindu.
