A Rusty Spotted Cat Makes Its Way to Bandipur National Park
One fine day, when four travelers -Aji Gouri (Alappuzha), Mubarak, Stibin Unni and Samad were coming back from the safari at the Bandipur National Park, they had a confrontation with one of the mesmerizing creatures on earth, a rusty spotted cat (the smallest creature of cat family).
According to the research, this one of its kind cat is 35 to 48 cm (14 to 19 in) long and weighs only 0.9 to 1.6 kg (2.0 to 3.5 lb). Categorized as vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), rusty spot cat can be seen only in the deciduous forests and the shrubby grasslands of Sri Lanka and India. Its appearance in Bandipur National Park can grab the attention of wildlife enthusiasts. Apart from Bandipur National Park, the cat has marked its presence in in Tadoba National Park (Maharashtra); Jim Corbett National Park (Uttarakhand) and Gir National Park (Gujarat).
