The Char Dham Yatra 2019 commenced from Gangotri, proceeded to Yamunotri and finally reached Kedarnath Shrine in Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag has opened the doors for the pilgrims on Thursday, 9th May 2019. The doors of the temple were opened at 5:33 am, and thousands of pilgrims with zeal visited the shrine along with chanting Vedic hymns. The atmosphere in and around the temple was filled with sanctity and peace. Now for the next six months, pilgrims from across the country, as well as abroad will be able to can come and take blessings of Kedar Baba (Lord Shiva).
Right from 4:00 am, the preparation of doors opening of the Kedarnath Temple started as per the Vedic tradition. Everything was done by the temple committee including Raval Bhimashankar Ling of Kedarnath Dham, Deputy Chairman of Temple Committee Ashok Khatri, Tirtha Purohit Srinivasa Potti, Chief Executive Officer of Temple Committee BD Singh, MLA Haridwar Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and other authorities in charge. Initially, at 5:30 the Doli (palanquin) was entered inside and the required cleaning in the sanctum was done by the priests and vedpathis, later at 6:00 in the morning the devotees entered inside the temple to worship and bow their heads in front of Baba Bholenath.
Heavy snow was witnessed in the Kedarnath temple premises, but the road making the way to the temple has been cleared that led thousands of devotees come and pay homage to Lord Shiva, as said by- Mohan Lal Thapliyal, Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee President.
As Kedarnath temple is situated at an elevation of 11,755 feet and the temple premises continues to be surrounded by snow, the Government of Uttarakhand has made smooth arrangements for the pilgrims staying overnight in Kedarnath by setting up tents.
