IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation) has introduced IRCTC Connect app that enables masses to book train tickets from their smartphones. Please note that your smatphone should have Android 4.1 or its higher versions. This free to use app can be easily downloaded from Google Play Store. IRCTC earlier also came up with an official app for BlackBerry phones installed with BlackBerry 10 platform.
Users will need the same IRCTC details to use this app. With its launch, IRCTC has made it a lot easier for people to search for trains from their current location to the desired destination. You search will give you the list of trains and once you finalize the train by tapping its name on the screen, you will be shown the availability of seats. After this, you can book any of the available seats. Please note that you cannot book the same between 8 AM to 12 PM.
IRCTC Connect app can also be used to explore and use other options like My Booking, Cancel Ticket, My Profile, etc. This app can retain recently added passenger details and allows first time users to register themselves with IRCTC. You can also read a PDF written to explain the functioning of the app.
Until now, more than 5000 people have downloaded the app and around 843 reviews have been written on it. Those reviews have earned the app an average rating of 4.3 / 5, which is deemed very good. You can also download it and experience a whole new way of booking train tickets.
