Indian Railways Launches Mobile App for Passengers’ Complaints & Suggestions
A mobile app as well as an online portal has been launched by Indian Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu to allow passengers to register their complaints and suggestions. Now, people can file a complaint via Android App, Online Portal and SMS. Here is how these newly launched portals work:
Online Complaint Registration Portal:
To file a complaint, passengers need to log on to http://www.coms.indianrailways.gov.in/
The portal has different categories like hygiene issue, booking issue, improper behavior, thefts and bedroll issue against which passengers can register a complaint or a suggestion. Once the complaint is filed, a unique code will be given to the complainant to further check the status of the complaint. The complainant will also receive email or SMS on the registered mobile number about the action taken on the issue.
Complaint through Mobile App:
The mobile app is for time being only for Android users and is available on Google Play Store. Once the app is installed on the phone, you can file complaints and make suggestions in a similar way as through online complaint portal. The Complaint Management System (COMS) will allow you to register complains and keep track of them as well. Additional feature of the Indian Railway mobile app is that it shall allow you to add attachments with your complain. So, when you complain about an unclean coach, you can attach a snap shot of the same as a proof.

Complaint on Phone Call or SMS:
Indian railways’ passengers can now also file complaint on phone or via SMS. To lodge a complaint through a call, the passengers can directly dial 138, whereas complaint via SMS can be filed on +919717680982.
