Looks like digitalization in India has got another face-lift with the recent launch of e-FRRO (Foreigners Regional Registration Office) to provide ease to the foreign travellers visiting India. With the introduction of this new online process by the central government on February 12, it is no longer mandatory for foreign nationals to visit the FRRO/FRO offices in major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai.
The Government of India with an aim to modernize and save time during the process has enabled hassle-free effort by having work done in faceless, cashless and paperless services. Through this online platform, one has the liberty to submit documents for any visa related services like immigration, visa extension, visa conversion, address change, passport and even request for exit permits without having to visit the FRRO/FRO office, unless you’re specifically called.
After submitting all the documents through e-FRRO, one will be informed regarding the process via text message and mail. The registration certificate/permits will either be sent to the respective person through post on the given address or electronically sent on the registered email ID. However, in case of emergency, the foreigners can also directly visit the FRRO/FRO office.
