Good news for all travelers! The Indian government is planning to allow general public to behold the Taj Mahal every night. Currently, only four nights per month are allotted for public to marvel at this monument (2 nights before and 2 nights after Full Moon). But the problem is that the present scenario allows only 400 people to see Taj Mahal every night due to security and environmental reasons.
The new idea looks promising as the government is planning to utilize the Mehtab Bagh to accommodate travelers during night timings. Mehtab Bagh has been chosen as it is large and there is no hindrance between the garden and Taj Mahal. The garden will allow 3000 – 4000 people to see Taj Mahal every night. According to sources, the central government is working closely with state government and ministry of culture in this regard. Shripad Naik, the tourism minister, said that we will try to execute the idea from March, 2015.
The ministry of tourism has told Archaeology Survey of India (ASI) to arrange for the facilities in Mehtab Bagh that will be required for night viewing of the Taj. Further, the ministry also wants sound security arrangements in the park. Thus, ASI is holding talks with UP Police for enhancing security in the garden.
If this plan of central government works, many tourists from far and near will come to savor the look of Taj Mahal at night. It will not only promote tourism, but also increase the revenue of government.
