To expand tourism in India, Suman Billa, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Tourism altered the e-tourist visa to ease and attract travellers visiting India for short-term business conferences, meetings or touring for medical tourism purposes. The e-visa scheme is valid for sixty days and can be applied four months prior visit. The facility will be extended to eight countries with the total number of 158 nations to enjoy the convenience.
A double-entry for tourism and business including three entries for medical purposes will be allowed. This scheme seeks to promote and stimulate functional tourism related to economic growth, medical value, increase in earnings from exportation and continue to make leadership for services like ‘Skill India’, ‘Digital India’ and ‘Make in India’.
