Badrinath Shrine to Open for Pilgrims from May 6, 2017

On the occasion of Vasant Panchami, the official date of the beginning of Badrinath Yatra 2017 was declared from the Narendranagar Raj Mahal. According to the announcement made by Tehri royal family scion Manabendra Shah, the opening day of the shrine has been fixed as 6th May, 2017. The date has been decided by Krishna Prasad, priest of the temple, after calculating the dates. Kedarnath, which remains shut for nearly six months in the winter, will be open for the devotees after the performance of mandatory rituals at 4:15 AM of the scheduled day. Also, the dates of Gaadu Ghada Tel Kalash was announced, which is likely to start from April. Badrinath is one of the four shrines of the Chhota Char Dham Yatra circuit in Uttarakhand.
