In Gir National Park in Gujarat, an unusual scene was witnessed by the forest officials as a group of 9 lions were seen drinking from the water hole together. The visual was so interesting that the officials decided to capture it on camera.
Since, the weather is taking its toll in Gujarat, a number of water holes have been dug and filled with water for the wild animals in Gir National Park. It was near one of these, a large lion family with two adult lioness and seven cubs were spotted quenching their thirst.
It is to be noted that Gir National Park is amongst the largest habitat of Asiatic Lions in India. Recently, about four lioness were reported to have given birth to 11 litters here. It is also to be noted that population of the Asiatic Lions is improving, where there were 411 lions in 2010, 523 lions were in counted in the census of 2015.
