Kumaon
Trekking in Kumaon can be undertaken all the year round, with
traditionally po pular
periods being April-June and September-November, just because
of the vastness of the terrain and altitude differences. In the
valleys and forests of Kumaon, mountaineering expeditions can
still be organized. The main hill resort of Kumaon is Nanital.

Best time to trek in this region is between May to October. During
winters you can also enjoy trekking at lower altitudes.
HOW TO REACH THERE
The nearest railway station for Kumaon is Kathgodam, The nearest
airport is a Pant Nagar (Nainital). Regular flights operate during
the summer. Kumaon is well connected with all important cities
by road. The bus service from Delhi to Nainital, Almora,Kathgodam
and Kausani is frequent.

India . The most prominent of the lakes is Naini lake surrounded

(TREK NEAR RANIKHET)
Ranikhet is truly a paradise for tourists and

to forget their tiresness. Lonolyness and frustratiion. Just to
see the beauty of this place one feels immense relaxation .
Covered with white sheet of snow in winter. Ranikhet
looks like indian switzerland. When spring comes Ranikhet
is laden with the overloaded branehes of flower and trees. This
all time season destination is one of the most visited place in
Kumoun. According to popular belief,this spot
had won the heart of Rani Padmini, queen of Raju Sudhardev. She
chose this scenic place to be her abode and since then , it has
cone to be known as Ranikhet, literally "Queen's
field."This place was selected as a hill station for British
troops and accordingly the cantoknment was established in 1869
and later cantonment of the Kumoan Regimental
was established here.

C) Ranikhet - Kalika - Majkhali - Kathpuriya - Sutalakhet,
Distance 35 km from Ranikhet, has a hotels and forest rest
house.
(TREK NEAR KAUSANI)
Unrivalled for its location, Kausani is 40 km
from Almora enabling an unforgettable look at a 350 km stretch
of the high Himalayas. With its pine forests holding the cool
mountain air this was Mahatma Gandhi's staging point in 1929.
The Garur valley in the distance abounds in relics of the 12th
and 13th centuries. Ideal for getting away to a heaven of tranquility
and salubrious weather.

(TREK NEAR BAGESHWAR)
Bageshwar is the starting point of the trek and
the last village on this trek is Khati. Bageshwar,
an important pilgrimage center of the Kumaon Himalayas
is also the base for popular trekking routes.
The trek to Pindari Glacier is 3 kms. long and
0.25 kms. broad and is connected to the south -- western slope
of the outer wall of the Nanda Devi Sanctuary.

At 2290 m, Munsiyari Situated at a distance of
about 120 kms from Pithoragarh Munsyari is a small beautiful hamlet
with scenic beauty of waterfalls.
Munsyari is a native place of Johari Tribe .Johari's
are engaged in weaving woolen shwals and Auyurvadic medicines,
agriculture and Horticulture .This place is a haven for trekeers
and mountaineer's.
