“I don’t understand why North East isn’t promoted as a tourist destination; it is just so beautiful…” Lipika cried out while giving us the details of her recent trip to Shillong and other cities of Meghalaya. With her eyes shining brightly and a bit watery  with excitement and cheeks getting tomato red, she further pledged that she would indeed go to North East for her honeymoon. Everyone in the room busted out laughing; however, a few days later I pondered over her PLEDGE and decided to do a little research on what are some great honeymoon destinations in North East. To my surprise, this less promoted part of the country is full of options that can prove to be a perfect holiday and honeymoon getaway. One has to trek through a rough terrain before reaching the Dzukou Valley, but all your effort is worth it! You can go exploring the caves, walk on the lush green meadows and witness the spectacular sight of blooming pink and white lilies and rhododendrons. The best time to visit Dzukou valley is between June and July.

pfutsero Despite the fact that it is a vital commercial centre, Pfutsero is a quiet little town in Nagaland. Situated at an altitude of about 2,134 m above sea level, it is the coldest region of Nagaland. The natural landscape is simply mesmerizing and is ideal for a different yet perfect honeymoon tour. Glory Peak, World War-II Japanese Cave, Miracle Cave, Leshemi Village, Khezhakeno Village and Pfutseromi Village are the major attractions here. There are no hotels available at Pfutsero, so eventually one has to lodge in Phek or in Kohima. But this doesn’t hinder your idea of a perfect honeymoon here.
